RDCom : System Description

The RDCom system can be split into 4 main stages: Data Logging, Data Transmission, Data Analysis and the Presentation of the Results. At each stage there are a number of options that can be tailored to suit your particular needs.

Data Logging

The RDCom system allows you to collect data remotely from your products anywhere in the world. We are not tied to a single "black box" and work with many data acquisition hardware suppliers. Their products have a wide range of features, logging speeds, capacities, types of channels and numbers of channels, so we are uniquely able to select the right pieces kit to do the job.

Whether you are tracking a prototype vehicle around a test track, monitoring a piece or remote machinery or looking for long term, real world, usage data, RDCom will address your needs.

Data Transmission

On of the key advantages to RDCom is our ability to select an appropriate transmission medium to suite your environment. If you are running vehicles around the UK road network and want to see up to the minute data and position, then one of our partners GSM and GPRS units would be an ideal solution.

If you need to log data from a fleet of vehicles, but only need to see the accumulated data or a usage summary, then RDCom can use Bluetooth or RF transmission when the vehicles return to your base or garage.

RDCom's ability to automatically get the data from the unit to your desktop without the need for human intervention allows your engineers to concentrate on more important things.

Data Analysis

Simply gathering raw data is not going to solve your problems. Tailoring your analysis to suite your specific needs will. In some cases the analysis will be performed on demand on the very latest data, in other cases it may be a nightly, weekly or monthly in depth analysis of data from a large number of units.

RDCom is supported by MIRA's teams of specialist engineers and facilities. With their help in defining the analysis and then interpreting the results, RDCom will be able to help answer your questions, help you make crucial design decisions, and help evolve your product.

Results Presentation

The results of your analysis will be displayed on a secure area of this web site. As with all the areas of RDCom, the display you see will be tailored to meet your needs. The data will be automatically updated in line with the analysis schedule, so you will be able to get the very latest information, from the comfort of your own desk.

Your secure area is also a convenient medium for you to communicate with both the RDCom team and your own project team around the world.

At the end of the project or at key milestones, the RDCom team can also provide confidential written reports.
